What i felt for the past 2 months (Chapter 7)

One day I woke up in the morning and realize my right eye was swollen, didn’t know what happen, some said herpes, some said insect bite, the real reason, I don’t know. It was so swollen that I become single eye lid. Pus was coming out from my eye and I don’t even dare to close my eye because when I close and sleep, when I wake up, I couldn’t open my eye.

So, I was send to the dispensary and when the doctor sees me, she told me straight to go to IGH. It’s another hospital that has specialist.

In my heart I was thinking, I visited this hospital more than any NITians in Rourkela with real sickness.

Reach there around 6.30pm, but found out the hospital was closed because of Orissa day, I was like: Come on! You guys are not kidding me right? (It’s was 1st April 2011). So in the end I went back without seeing the doctor, my eye, swollen with pus and I just have to bear it for a day.

The next day, I went to the IGH alone, yes, alone. I walk my way to the new gate, board on a auto.

Suraj: “Bhaiya, IGH.”
Bhaiya: “Ispat hospital?”
Suraj: “Haan, how much?”
Bhaiya: “RS 70”
Suraj: “Thik hai.”

And I make my way to the hospital. Went to register myself with the refer chit I gotten from the doctor in the dispensary. After registering, I was lost. I don’t know where to go next, the sheet given to me has no information and god know how big Ispat hospital was, it was a big hospital with a lot of departments of specialist.

So, conclusion: I’m lost.

Walking in this big hospital, finding for help, but all seem unapproachable, especially when I’m wearing sun glasses to cover my swollen eye. It look like I’m some ‘Don’ from the movie.

Finally I saw a doctor walking past, I stop her and took down my spec, explaining that I don’t know where to go as I’m new to the hospital. She told me to go to the eye specialist, I told her, I don’t know where is it, can she show me the way? The doctor ask for a assistant, and the assistant brought me to the department.

Assistant: “Here you go; this is the department you should be at.”
Suraj: “But, where should I go?”
Assistant: “Hold on, I check for you?”

And she went on to check out for me.

Paanch minutes later, she came back and told me to pass my slip to the sister in this room and I do as told. The sister told me to wait outside. Outside in the corridor was filled with patient waiting to see the doctor and I was one of them. However, everyone gave me a weird look. I was looking okay with my sun glasses on, so they thought: This boy looks fine, why is he here?

Just when I was thinking, the sister called me into the room. I took down my sun glasses to reveal my swollen pus eye, and I can see everyone nodded with approval that I should go first. I went in and the doctor came out telling me to wait in the room, so I waited like for 6-7 minutes before he came in. He asked me what happen and I show him my eye thinking: “What do you think?”
