Chingay 2009

A day i had been anticipating months after months, finally it’s Chingay 2009. Chingay this year is on 30 Jan 2009 and 31 Jan 2009 respectively. I have been blogging about this event real often, probably because i am a Chingay Blogger and a participant at the same time.

I have blog about the Media Press conference of Chingay 2009, I have blog about the Media Accreditation of Chingay 2009 and now, yes right now, i am going to blog and share about Chingay 2009 itself.

You will be wondering, i am a participant myself how could i take photos and perform at the same time? Yes, i am performing under PAYM as a Ant with a cheese on top of my head and i can’t take any photos due to my performance However i manage to invited my friend Teng Yeow to help out as a photographer for this event. He told me that he enjoyed the whole event and that was a great experience for him.

The photos that i am using now to blog were all taken by him. I have also credit all photos with his name.

This is a mega event in Singapore; of course security is the first factor they have to consider. The long queues, metal detectors, and crowd control this is a must in all events and Chingay 2009 is not spared. However i must say, the security is in tip top condition for Chingay 2009 and good job on that.

The Performers are preparing themselves for Chingay 2009, before the start of the event; everybody is right at their own position waiting, anticipating for their turns. And me, i am waiting at the back for my turn too.
Still remember that i mention to you guys about the beautiful phoenix at the beginning of the show?

Here is the beautiful and proud phoenix:

Chingay, this is the only time where you see people from different countries, different races comes together to perform. With the best hairstyle, best makeup the only time they can showcase their hard work, their fruitful result.

People on that day are well dressed with their own costume, their own instrument. Majorities performed their dance with pre-record music, minority performed with LIVE Music.

If you are watching the show there you will be same like this photo below, everyone is stretching their neck looking at the performances, anticipating what’s the next perform coming up.

Different Dragons with different colours, different designs with different people appear in Chingay 2009. There were even dragons make from straw, there were even fire dragons. And not forgetting the fire dragon float.

Dragon to us Chinese is an auspicious character so it’s not surprising seeing them in Chingay every year, as years goes by, the dragons gets more and more unique.

If you have missed these Dragons on the stage, then here it is. The sparkles were produce by the team on the stage with the dragons. All of them are topless, to prevent any fire accident to happen to them.

Get in the hotness with him, where you will see him in action with the fire ‘bar’.

Let’s welcome our Guests (VVIPS), Mr Goh Chok Tong (Senior Minister) and Mr S R Nathan, Our Singapore’s President. They have been invited to Chingay 2009, 31 Jan 2009. And for 30 Jan 2009, Our Prime Minister Mr Lee Hsien Loong was the special Guest (VVIPS) on that day.

Chingay 2009 is officially opened when our president put a piece of puzzle onto the board. Everyone was clapping happily and at the same time ready for their action. Everyone is enjoying every hour, every minutes and every second of Chingay 2009.

In the History, Chingay was create to celebrate Chinese New year after the banned of fire crackers. As people felt that the banned of fire crackers lessen the atmosphere of New Year festival so they decided to create beautiful floats and perform on Chingay as a form to substitute the fire crackers. However this year, Fire crackers were light up at the start of the show. How wonderful is that, to see fire crackers here in city hall other than China town on New Year eve countdown celebration.

Not forgetting our Sponsors’ Float, look at the people standing on the float. They are our Singapore’s Pride, the students from Singapore SPORT School.

S.M.I.L.E for the cameras

Been wondering, where is his’ head? There it is, it’s on his belly. A wonderful substitute of Belly Dancers.

The Japanese Association bringing you the joy of dance, when i heard the music from the Japan perform team, i feel like dancing with them. It’s just so contagious.

The Korea team with their head swinging hat

And the cute little kids with the kungfu hits, don’t you dare bully them because they will just get your ‘butt’ kicked.

The host for Chingay 2009, with that beautiful costume of his, aren’t they pretty?

The Taiwan team with their cultural dance, it just brings you back to their own clan with their own unique dance.

How about a dance with the Thais? Get into the Sawat Dee Ka Mood.

Wave to Ms Thailand, she is the Ambassador of Thailand. She’s so beautiful, with her elegant moves you can’t possible let your eyes get out of sight.

7 countries in total joined Chingay 2009, and everybody just simply dances to their moves. The Philippines gets on with the fan dance and most importantly their colourful costume.

Not forgetting the Indonesia team with their wonderful performance, heard that in their performance there are two giant peacock-tiger head gear that weigh 30kg and they just carry it with their teeth biting on a piece of bamboo stick.
That’s really awesome; on top of that, they are able to carry it with a girl sitting on top of it, that’s so cool. Look at this photo, isn’t he look like the Chinese deity ‘Kuang gong’

Chingay 2009 is so full of surprises

Simply get lucky with the Fantasy team, let them ‘protect’ you from all evil.

Scare of being wet when the skies starts to rain? Borrow this wonderful cute, ‘mushroom’ umbrella from them. Get high with their umbrella dance.

One and only flamingo dance move, move with the beat, move with your long skirt, wave it up and kick your leg.

Can’t get over with Christmas festival? NUS team present to you the little elf Christmas. Their costume just simply one word to describe it, ‘cute’ especially their socks, don’t you think it look like cane candy?

It’s just simply different when you rehearse and perform on that day. The feelings are just totally different. The PAYM team with their Bees, wasps, flower petals, ants and Elves performing at Chingay 2009.

Some bees and Wasps are with Head gear some are not.

The ants with their cupcakes/cheese on, it’s just simply show the effort of an ant moving their own food at their own pace. The youth of life, that’s what they are trying to present.

The elegant Butterfly, that spread their wings proudly show the move elegantly. Aren’t they beautiful? Heard that a butterfly has only a day of life, such a beautiful insect they only have a day of life? I bet they wanted more fun than just a day right guys?

This is the float by PAYM, the caterpillar. There are 8 elves sitting on the caterpillar waving to the audience with their ‘Mickey mouse’ gloves.

Not forgetting the whole group photos from PAYM, with the bees, wasps, ants, flower petals, elves, organisers and choreographers. Good job guys

We were the last second float, so the energy in us still remains lots. We bring up the ‘high-ness’ of everybody, we scream, we cheers, we shout that’s the only way that keep us going from City hall to marina Square.

Of course not forgetting the Claps given by the audience that keep us performing for them on Chingay 2009 without them, we will have no chance to perform on this very road. The last performance is the magic show; everyone was anticipating about it, so am i. This is the first time, Chingay include magic show in and it’s by master Lawrence and Princess Priscilla.

See this Empty cage? It’s right hanging above.

Cloth is being let down, and look carefully, it’s empty.

And there she is, princess Priscilla, isn’t that wonderful? How did she do that? All of us wanted to know.

The show ended with the Grand finale, the banquet where everyone is coming into this great festival.

How can a banquet start without any foods and fruits? And so they are carrying the food and fruits into the banquet.

Not only you get to see fire cracker, you get to see the beautiful sparkling fire work.

Chingay 2009, has officially ended in just two hours time, our hard work is being pay-off by the cheers and claps by the audience. Isn’t it wonderful? I bet everyone went back home with their smile on their faces and their anticipation to tell their relatives how great the show is. See you guys on Chingay 2010.

Chingay has ended, Cityalive just started. The biggest street party in Singapore just start right after Chingay 2009.

I wasn’t there at the start because i need to get back to PA Head-quarter for briefing and the bus send me over to Cityalive around 0030am.

The show is finally over, yummmmmm-seiii.

I reach Cityalive at 0030am, and i rent a locker right outside the entrance and went in with my Cityalive media pass given during the media conference.

The Police lady in action with her hand cuff right there at Cityalive.

Cityalive was full of crowds, even more than last year where city jam was held right after Chingay 2008. With DJ Sassy, DJ Sarasa and DJ Koflow spinning, Laser lighting all over the dance floor, Drinks available at the side, how can you not enjoy the dance?

Yes Mdm!!

Everyone seem to enjoy the dance, hey let’s dance with the beat.

Razor TV was there to interview the people there, my friends got interview by them. How cool can it be?

Tiger beers are the Co-sponsor for Cityalive, not only that you also get to drink Bacardi there. How can we not enjoy ourselves? And most importantly it’s only for 18 and above for everything in here.

I stayed till 3am, when everything ends. DJ Koflow wraps up the whole event. . Will we see you on 2010?

I would like to thank PAYM for giving me a chance to perform for Chingay 2009, i would also like to thank STOMP for giving me this opportunity to be a Chingay STOMP Blogger. A big thank you to all.
