Went to Cell Group Yesterday, my first time in the Cell group but it's not the first time i meeting my cell group members. I've meet them in a few occasion, like the first gathering at Dhoby Exchange for dinner, the second gathering at Bryan's School Dance Show. And every sunday's Worship in Church.
Like they always say, FCC is not a gay church, it's a church that welcome everyone no matter you are gay, Bi, Les, Married, Straight, Divorced etc. We welcome you. (:
I reached ard 8.15pm..supposely is 7.00pm..but i not meeting them for dinner so ya.. when i reached, they are still having their dinners but at the same time they discussing this coming Wed's Outing.
After that we had our worship in the Rainbow room and we started off with our bible study. Worship song was Blessed Be your named and Lord, i give you my heart. I've heard Blessed be your name before but didn't really get the title, But 'Lord, i give you my heart' this song, it touches me way back.. it's one of my fav collection..and it touches Cynthia's Heart recently.Amen.
I've alway enjoyed church..and ever since i joined Free Community Church, i have a different view and different perspective.. I love FCC, it's like having so many Bro and Sis there for me, i know they will always be there for me. I'm Glad i've joined Fcc.
Even before the Bible study ended, i wanted to blog about what we had discussed. In This cell group and the one in my old church, it way different. What we discussd are verses that focuses on Gays, like what i'm going to share now.
We was discussing on two main greek word:
1.Malakoi
2.Arsenokoitai
This two words are later translated into simply form.
Malakoi
KJV-Effeminate
NIV-Male Prostitutes
NKJ-Homosexuals
RSV(1952)- Homosexuals
RSV(1977)-Sexual perverts
RSV(1989)-Male Prostitutes
Jerusalem Bible: Catamites
Arsenokoitai
KJV-Abusers of themselves with mankind
NIV-Homsexual offenders
NKJ-Sodomites
RSV(1952)-Homosexual
RSV(1977)-Sexual Perverts
RSV(1989)-Sodomites
Jerusalem Bible- Sodomites
How similar do think these terms are?
Is the similarity/differences a problem or not a problem to you?
Have they always been translated this way?
Back to basic
Malakoi- An Adjective used to describe the quality of softness; like the English word 'Soft' you can describe a piece of cloth as 'soft', or you can describe a woman or man as 'soft' in manner.
Arsenokoitai- a Paul-inspired compound word formed with the combination of 'Arseno' and 'koitai', translating as the nouns 'Male' and 'bed' respectively. In particular, 'Koitai' refers to bed in the sexual sense, and i typically used to describe the aggressive partner who penetrates.
We had this long debation on this subject, but we can't conclude anything because we are not from Greek, we donno the origin. Even though it is trnslated, but you won't know whether the translation is meant that way.
Malakoi=Bottom
Arsenokoitai=Top
is this what they mean? or others?
Nick came out with this explanation, that Gay sex is allowed in the past, the older man are allow to penetrate the youngs. But if it is the other way it is not allow, because it is taken as the lower rank cannot take over / possess the higher rank.
is it this way?
Why paul invented the word? What give him the qns? the idea? did he pass by a house and saw two man having sex? or is he a liberal? why must he combined two noun to make a compound word?
that is so many qns, so less answer..We debated nearly one and a half hour but couldn't really get any answer, what we have is possible answers. So we decided to leave this qns to another meeting.
After the discussion, we are suppose to share one good news and one bad news and then pour the water into the bowl of stones.
I shared mine, the good news is that i've submitted my MS. Front page project, i'm the first one and i'm getting bonus marks for submitting early. The bad news was that last week my grandma fall down and dislocated her elbow, she's alright now but probably still need to go check up in the hospital after the allocation of the elbow.
Blessed be your name
Lord, I give you my heart
