At the start of Jan next year, every cigrarettes that you buy at singapore will have four letter printed on them. The four letter are 'SPDC', this will let those unpaid taxes cigarettes to have no where to hide.
'SPDC' stands for Singapore Duty-Paid Cigarettes, and this four letters is compulsory printed near the place you smoke, 3.5cm above.
The law has make this clear that no unpaid cigarettes are allow in singapore.
This means that if anyone, ANYONE that is found in any corners of singapore buy,sell or smoke unpaid taxes cigarettes will be FINED $500. This is for first time offender.
For two or more, once you are charge on court and it's successful you will be fined 20 times.
$500x20= $10000
If you were thinking of buying cigrattes at malaysia, even just one packet, you open and bring it over to singapore you think you can pass this check then you are wrong.
Even just one packet you have to pay the tax at the custom and they will issue you a receipt, please keep this receipt because when you are caught smoking without the SDPC letter you have top produce the receipt to prove that you pay the taxes for this ciagraettes.
